TFAH, WBT Release Drug, Alcohol, and Suicide Epidemics Report
This week, the Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) and Well Being Trust (WBT) released Pain in the Nation: The Drug, Alcohol, and Suicide Epidemics and the Need for a National Resilience Strategy report. The report details a range of drug, alcohol, and suicide trends throughout the country and highlights more than 60 policies, programs, and practices to help build a comprehensive approach to addressing these epidemics. The strategies for addressing these epidemics focus on prevention, early identification of issues, and effective treatment practices.
Included in the report are projections of the potential toll that drug, alcohol, and suicide epidemics could take if further action is not taken. According to the report, California’s drug, alcohol, and suicide rates could increase by 38 percent over the next 10 years without a coordinated resilience strategy.
More information and the full report are available here, an interactive data overview is available here, and state-specific information and data breakdowns on California are available here.
