July 27, 2018 Edition
2018 CHEAC Annual Meeting registration is open until September 1, 2018. This year’s meeting will be held from October 17 – October 19 and will provide local health department professionals representing a wide variety of disciplines throughout California with networking and learning opportunities.
Members are encouraged to stay at the Hyatt Regency as all conference programming will occur at this location. Availability remains in CHEAC’s room block at the Hyatt Regency, though CHEAC’s discounted room rate has limited availability. Rooms will be offered at the Hyatt’s prevailing room rate when CHEAC’s rate is not available.
If the Hyatt’s prevailing rate is an issue for jurisdictions, nearby hotels, including the Sterling Hotel, the Best Western Plus Sutter House, the Holiday Inn Express Sacramento Convention Center, and the Residence Inn by Marriott, are offering a discounted government rate.
More information on this year’s CHEAC Annual Meeting, including registration, is available here.
CHEAC, along with our partners at the California Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems/Safety Net Institute (CAPH/SNI), recently developed individual profiles of the Whole Person Care (WPC) Pilots throughout the state. These profiles feature the innovative approaches of the WPC Pilots in coordinating health, behavioral health, and social services in a patient-centered manner with the goals of improved patient health and wellbeing and improved efficiency and effectiveness of delivery and use of resources.
Recall, WPC Pilots were created as part of Section 1115 Medicaid Waiver (Medi-Cal 2020). The waiver made available funding to improve care for a subset of complex Medi-Cal beneficiaries and 25 WPC Pilots were selected by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) through a competitive application process. To learn more about the WPC Pilots, the profiles are available here.
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Office of Quality Performance and Accreditation will hold the California Accredited Health Department Learning Community Convening on Thursday, September 13 in Sacramento. The full-day meeting will be facilitated by a Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) specialist and will allow accredited LHDs to collaborate, participate in quality improvement and culture of health discussions, provide feedback to PHAB, and obtain guidance on the reaccreditation process.
Accredited health department directors (or designee) and accreditation coordinators are requested to register by September 5, 2018. There is no fee to participate, and travel reimbursement may be available. Additional information and registration is available here.
