PLEASE NOTE: This is a four-part training series. Attendees will comprise a training cohort. Individuals are expected pay the full registration fee at the time of registration and attend each session of the training series.
Local health jurisdictions are a key part of the nation’s public health system. The effective delivery of local public services, and ultimately, a healthier California, demands a workforce skilled in strategic public health financing. Evolving public health policies, priorities, and funding requires public health leaders to think beyond general accounting and fiscal management. How well local health jurisdictions plan, manage, allocate, and optimize funding ultimately impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of services and the health of its population. The content of this training series will blend financial expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills specific to furthering the impact of local health jurisdictions.
Overall Learning Objectives:
- Improve strategic financial leadership knowledge base and skills.
- Be familiar emerging trends and methodologies, make better strategic financial decisions, and practices essential to building key partnerships.
- Develop strategic skills in the context of financial leadership and develop long-term vision and strategy frameworks.
- Transition from information provider, number cruncher, and report submitter to strategic partner.
- Gain knowledge and skills to improve collaborative budget development, management, and monitoring for improved organizational excellence across the organization.
- Learn the basic framework of federal and state structures and mandates funding local health jurisdictions and gain a better understanding of current developments in public health financing to better impact local health jurisdiction efforts.
- Drive innovation and lead cultural change.
